Helen Gobbi, OAM

Helen is an independent historian and author who began primarily as a local historian with a passion for preserving a locality’s stories and records are several local history publications, many projects and exhibitions. Included in those publications is Taking its Place: a History of Oakleigh written for the former City’s sesquicentenary. After careers in both the private and public sector, Helen worked as a researcher and historian with Cooee History and Heritage P/L. and was lead author for A reputable set of men: the History of the Sandringham Club. Since then Helen has worked on a range of community histories, including No. 734: 150 years of Clayton North Primary: A Unique Brand of Courage. She is now working on two projects – a 75 year history of an RSL club and a 140 year history of a cricket club.
